It Truly Is Getting Worse

My heart goes out  to the German MP Karamba Diaby is stepping down from his seat due to racist abuse he’s encountered since entering the political scene in 2013.

The Senegalese-born politician politician has been subjected to abuse which is  a thing of nightmares from arson to his office and threatening letters and calls.

I don’t  blame the 62 year old  for quitting no position is worth your life, and you have to prioritize you and your family’s safety.

It takes a brave man to endure that level of hate  for as long as he did.

And unlike other politicians who are determined to die in their jobs due to fear of being ”nobody’s” ,due to his  vast government experience and PhD in chemistry he won’t be short of job offers.

But I would advise him to seek  some professional help as abuse like this definitely takes a toll.

I’m just ashamed to admit there  is rise in the far-right.

Not all of them are after violence but a few of them are eager for blood, and this is when politics get nasty.

Everyone has a right to serve irrespective of their skin colour, and I appreciate the good people of Germany that voted for Karamba, as those people proved there’s still people that can rise above hate.

I also feel black politicians especially in the UK should have more ministerial jobs as  if you look they  truly  are underrepresented in this current  government ,and I’m not talking about giving top jobs to   controversial black figures who spout racism claims just to have time in the limelight ,and once they get the job you never hear the racist claims again.

What upsets me  people who claim their political parties are racist while still taking a salary from them if there’s genuine racism why don’t you quit in protest.

That’s when people will take your claims more seriously and then maybe genuine and effective change can begin for the black community and black politicians.

British government should give jobs to respectable black politicians like Karamba who if they are seen more in more top jobs maybe that will get more voters familiar with black faces, and be  genuine representation for the black community.

But I won’t lie nowadays it seems a scary time to be a politician.
