Is It Fake Love?

All I can say is we the public have a short memory.
There’s so much praised lavished on the great   Bukayo Saka for overcoming the dreaded penalty in yesterday’s Euro Semi-final qualifier.
But this same Saka in another previous match missed a penalty along with other black players like Marcus Rashford, and was subjected to so much racial abuse that it nearly killed his passion for football and left him on a  verge of a nervous breakdown.
But what restored my faith in the great british public was  when a sweet boy  wrote a letter to Saka saying he should hold his head  up that there is nothing to be  ashamed for ,and then a local artist dedicated a mural to  him which was splashed with positive messages.
But still it feels like a bitter pill to swallow the only time black players are accepted in England is when they score.
Love that comes at a price isn’t real love.
What do the black players like Saka truly gain if they win?
Like a lot of the BAME community they feel players like Saka were badly  let down in regards to football abuse.
I saw something on tiktok that referenced that its like slavery when the black players are being used to get the job the done.
I won’t personally go as far to say that as the players aren’t under  duress and are proud to represent the great country which is Great Britain.
But I hope the black players and  black community’s social standing improves in Britain.
Like in Britain there should be more black politicians in senior level like more black leaders of council in Britain which is very rare, more black managers in the premiere league.
I  truly  hope black players are celebrated more after this tournament not   just quick displays of affection.

Spread the love
