Money can’t buy happiness but at least it can buy you a place to live .
For people who are living on a different planet due to housing crisis there is rising rent ruthless private landlords and lack of social housing being built to meet the needs of the overcrowded population especially in cities like London poor people are now being forced to live in poor conditions even when having the right medical documents.
To me that is the real scandal in Britain lack of housing for families that genuinely need it.
And what is tragic councils are threatening people with outside London to keep them quiet.
To me that is sad shame because everyone knows especially ethnic minority they feel more safer in London than outer London, and they have family ties and friendships that cant be easily established in the countryside.
I heard a woman in her 60s in surrey has been sofa-surfing for 3 years despite having the relevant paperwork which says she needs to be priority for housing and the situation is affecting her health.
The worst feeling is to be left in limbo.
Councils when dealing with vulnerable people especially victims of domestic violence they should have some sort of ethics in their treatment not this coldness which is always reported in the news.
Being poor doesn’t mean you don’t have rights.
But how did great Britain get to this were getting a council house could take 10 years, working professionals sleeping in abandoned buildings and tents.
Is this sadly the new normal and ask yourself are you one pay check away from sleeping on the streets.
Homelessness has many faces.
I feel the politician that can genuinely resolve the housing crisis in Britain will be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Ps listen to this song I think it sums up how people are feeling about the housing crisis.
I just love his voice.
