My Secret Nightmare

Due to the recent coverage  about the   surge of crimes in the London Underground.

I feel compelled to say my own experience about using the underground.

I think the  London underground is an everyday staple to most Londoners.

We can all relate to the underground it’s a place to use rushing for work ,getting  your metro fix,and also allows you to master the technique of applying your makeup  while on a bumpy ride.

Also, a place to fall in love.

(But let’s just say not all of us have had that ‘’brief  encounter moment ’’ on a  train cough cough.

But it’s also a place  despite its iconic appearance, it’s  full of hidden  dangers, and I can vouch for that ona personal note.

I remember when I  attended a  LFW fashion show  that I was covered for an online fashion bible.

And let’s just say I should have known bad things was to proceed ,if I had to base  it on the beginning.

The show was a disaster the models were late and the VIPs took ages to find their seats so the show overran.

So, when I thought I was going to finish at 7:30pm.

I ended up finishing at 9:30 pm to 10pm.

No amount of free cupcakes could have cured my annoyance of having to catch a late train, as none of my colleagues were going my way ( again a sign bad things were to come)

When I went into the underground and took the  central line.

Everything was rosy it had the  usual amount of partygoers getting ready to scout for the hottest nightclubs ,and people glued to their tablets getting their dose of Love Island.

But as soon as I got off  the tube  to take my connecting train.

I was alone  I wasn’t scared as the train was about to arrive soon,so I took advantage of this rare occasion ,and  put my music on and was shaking my hips unleashing my inner Shakira.

But then suddenly I turned my back and saw a group of  bulky men about 40 with demonic face painting and were hurling tirades amongst themselves.

Their appearance was very intimidating and  they were walking towards me in a militant manner.

That precise second I could  feel my sweat building and my heart racing.

London which is virtually busy I felt like I was in a ghost town, but instead of ghosts ,I was  in the presence of demons.

And when they were still charging towards me God answered my prayers.

The tube suddenly came out of nowhere, and I just bolted into it , and luckily the men didn’t get in, but just looked at me as the tube carried me away.

I’m just sad that tube driver will not know how he came to my aid.

In all the time of my life I’ve never felt as vulnerable, as that day and wouldn’t wish that feeling on my worst enemy.

The feeling of helplessness.

I will urge all people regardless of gender study if your journey  especially if at night is worth it.

Always plan your journey ahead ,and be in constant contact with someone about your movements,

And try to resist the temptation  of being attached to your headphones if so don’t put on a high volume , as you should be alert at all times.

And importantly don’t get in empty carriages or go to stations that are usually isolated.

Sadly people we are living in different and unsafe times, and should strive to stay safe at all times.

Have you ever had a scary encounter during a train journey?

Spread the love
