Food poverty truly is striking everywhere even in Nigerian restaurants.
I went to a Nigerian restaurant in central recently.
A woman with 2 children ordered for 1 small soup and starch for all them to share and what got me no meat inside.
I truly was shocked the waitress knew by her silence that due to poverty not being able to afford to eat separate meals she wished to share with her kids.
But I just felt guilty how can you eat soup without meat,
To me efo riro feels naked without a piece of cowfoot.
So I offered to buy her and her children food she bended down on her knees in a crowded restaurant and was crying that she is truly grateful as she and her husband are struggling but she cant deny her children food.
I nearly bawled out too but I bended down for her too and hugged her and gave the children some coins for chin chin, and I left after swapping details.
I truly wish to get in touch with her council and know what funds are out there and are there any food banks that truly in reach for her family.
I know times are tough but if this is scenes in Britain before Christmas are times gonna get worse before they get good.
And what comfort is that to families whose life are literally in the balance due to the economic hardship.
While British politicians are stuffing their fat turkeys this not so festive season I hope they spare a thought for families like these as they are many in Britain.
What I will advise people budget budget and budget.
Prioritize your bills and fridge anything after that is luxuries.
