I am so proud to announce a Nigerian has become head of British Vogue.
The woman is Chioma Nnadi.
And with backing from the legendary Anna Wintour.
I feel we should expect big things from this one.
I’ve always expressed their is elitism in fashion and the publishing industry.
And it tends to be a niche market that it caters for.
Why is that ,fashion is worn by a diverse group of people so why shouldn’t their own stories be represented and reflected.
And through the hiring of Chioma I truly feel like my wish has been granted ,and we are truly reaching a new era of ‘fashion inclusivity’.
What I find refreshing is high fashion is usually glamour and luxury.
But Chioma is a oxymoron in herself she is a bit like a recluse and genuinely anti-establishment.
And that to me is everything.
Someone who doesn’t conform to to the standard, but sets her own.
Through the hiring of Chioma hopefully it will open doors for more people from minority backgrounds who would before have the door shut firmly on their face.
She has huge boots to fill but I think she can accomplish the task in her fashionable boots of course.
Again is there anything Nigerians can’t do?
