I don’t know where this gem was hiding from me on the tv guide.
I’ve just recently come across old episodes of Africa’s Next Top Model.
I was so happy to come across a show that celebrates all different skin tones, accents, cultures of Africa in one competition.
Personally it’s so fulfilling to see true authentic representations of confident African queens, as it disputes the narratives of the portrait of a African woman being a picture of ‘suffering’.
I found the host Oluchi Onweagba humble beginning’s story totally inspiring ,and I truly respect how she managed to carve an illustrious international career which is not an easy feat.
But don’t get too excited the series is over after just one season.
Why is that producers?
From the reviews it was generally positive and each episode proved to be extremely addictive.
I can personally vouch for that.
I truly find it disappointing a show that had an educational purpose not just entertainment was just dropped for no apparent reason.
It just shows that we can’t let the ball drop again.
The series should be renewed.
Africa’s Next Top Model had the potential if it ran for more seasons to promote Africa as a whole, and help forge more careers of undiscovered African talent in the competitive industry of modelling.
Are there any shows you know that have ended way before they should have?
