Jessikah Inaba, 23 truly resignates the ‘’never give up attitude’’.
That we us parents hope to install in our children who at times (rightly so) can think life is unfair to them.
Jess has now joined the bar and essentially become Britain’s first blind black barrister.
She got through her intense law course in the University Of Law using Braille and credits, and invaluable assistance from persistent tutors, friends and fellow students.
But success doesn’t come without stress she was hospitalized due to sleep deprivation, and developed bad frantic eating habits.
Her family celebrated her success with a boat party which I bet was a blast.
I found another interesting fact due to this story, because there’s few black barrister in the UK the ‘’legal wig’’ doesn’t adjust well with natural hair,so Jess now has to have her natural hair plaited so the wig can accommodate her hairstyle.
So again this woman is opening doors while challenging the same people on the other side of the door.
What I love about this story is it shows you should be grateful for the little blessings you have as some people have it tough.
She didn’t want to be a statistic she decided to create her own figure.
There’s a notion that disabled especially blind people are sad and helpless.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
I remember when a man who came to the local Tesco, and he was blind had a stick and was struggling to take items from the shelf.
Then when he went to the till he was talking casually about politics and football.
I feel we should never write anyone off everyone has something in their own way to offer, and to contribute to the world.
