That’s the philosophy I standby and live by ( despite my cheeky love for puff puff which anytime I have one I swear is the last, but I can endeavor a record 4 puff puff in one sitting, fellow Nigerians what’s your puff puff limit lol )
Back to the conversation that’s why you may find it hard to believe I abstain from alcohol.
(No drink sponsor lol)
The reason why I don’t drink is it’s not a religious conviction it’s more of a psychological conviction.
I don’t like the feeling of not being in control of myself, and having an out-of-body experience.
Even though I believe I’m tough due to my wrestling and taekwondo knowledge( seriously I feel in a past life I’m a ninja)
I know the numbers are stacked up against you ,when your not in the best frame of mind.
What was an eyeopener for me about abstinence from alcohol is when I watched the northerner soap ”Coronation Street” David Platt rape storyline.
(David Platt was raped by a male friend after having his drink spiked by him)
It was an eye-opener for me that anyone can be susceptible to rape regardless of gender.
I remember reading about the spiking incidents currently happening in Britain.
It made me proud that I always avoided nightclub culture ,even in my uni days ,as I know not everyone and everything is as it seems, and there are dangers always lurking nearby in regard to vulnerable women.
Don’t get me wrong I like to have a good time, but I refuse to believe you can only find happiness in the bottom of a bottle.
And sadly, there’s a misconception which I find regarding black women abroad that were party animals drunk in scantily clad clothes falling out of bars.
The irony is I remember in my university days it was actually the opposite in theory.
The black girls in my course were so studious always had their heads literally attached to their books.
It’s like people think when I’m dressed nicely they think I’m a posh chick with no black loyalty, when in fact I’m the most relaxed chilled person.
I’m not a steak dauphinoise potatoes kind of girl, I’m a steak and chips kind of girl lol.
I’m not telling people not to have a good time, but I’m just doing this article to say if you want to drink don’t drink in excess, and know your surroundings and who your present company is.
Were all living in dangerous times in recent memory.
Whatever gender you are anyone is susceptible to vulnerability.
Have a drink in moderation ,as I’ve personally seen too many lives destroyed by alcohol.
And again the point is you can still have a fun alcohol-free life. Take me for example if you don’t want to be left out of the alcohol scene.
I have a cranberry juice with fizzy lemonade the bubbles makes me feel like I’m having a personal cocktail or champagne concoction lol.
