Im so happy coming from the meeting I had this week about the broken housing system.
It was very insightful mixed with a couple of politicians and housing experts in London .And the event was long but i didn’t notice the time not because of the nik naks on display.
O the falafel wraps were out of this world and Victoria sponge as if they knew i were coming one of my favourite cakes.
But again everything in moderation especially going into this Christmas season.
But back to the story the meeting truly highlighted the injustice in the housing system in Britain. Many people are being exploited by rogue landlords private and social.
Thee common denominator in the room is that no matter anyone’s financial standing they should be entitled to suitable affordable and safe housing.
But finding that especially in a pricey city like London is like finding a needle in the haystack and the government isn’t adequately solving the growing crisis.
What was the funny insight of the meeting was the pointing out the housing industry is like a scam service industry with double standard by the lovely Margaret.
She stated in the tenancy agreements which you have to oblige to states rent in time and no anti social behaviour if one slip up your out but why wont the landlords be able to uphold their end of the bargain and provide a good house and why don’t they face more harsher penalties from the government if they slip up.
That was met by deafening claps in the room.
I truly believe this issue of affordability and availability will get worse in the next 20 years especially with London’s population growth.
I truly believe that rogue landlords should face harsher penalties by government which can also lead to criminal charges.
The stuff landlords are aloud to get away with is shocking where are their hearts and hopefully the findings of this meeting will get the government to wake up.
