I’m so proud of my mum.
She is starting her training to be a magistrate.
I’m now more looking forward to getting elder, as your never too late or old to aspire to achieve more.
She is one of the few black people in her training.
Which I find so mystifying and disturbing.
But when I processed it ,I think it’s due to the lack of promotion of the judicial system.
And how unfair it is perceived to be especially to the BAME community, and also the checks are excruciating.
I know my mum has the gift and platform to make change due to her other extensive experience of working with the judicial system.
I know she will make her own impact.
I’m so sad the lack of black participation in the legal world is dwindling more since the pandemic.
I remember when me and my mum attended numerous police events in the city, hardly any black people were in attendance.
I think to make change you have to be the change.
And I’m so proud it starts with my mum.
Well done Mum.
