Life At Times Can Be A All Time Low

I always dreaded the day I would have to announce that Tom Parker is dead.

I can remember the moment as if it was just yesterday.

I was just logging on to my computer, then the news was all over my homepage , and it really knocked me down like a ton of bricks.

Even though it was news that you sadly expected, you prayed it would be very far from the present.

His early demise proves is that  life can be incredibly cruel.

Why would  a young easy- going cheeky lad ,who had everything to live for be taken away from this world ,way before his time.

Why I respect this man he gallantly fought the disease with every living breath in his body, and he did it with the aid of his wife, family and bandmates.

He even did a charity gig gathered his A-list mates to raise money for the cause.

It’s not an easy feat for someone receiving chemo to even eat a boiled egg or get up from your bed especially when it’s ravaging  your body ,so for him to stomach the energy to organize a concert those are just one of the many reasons why this man was a  living breathing superman.

I don’t know  except you’ve  seen it firsthand, when your loved one has cancer it feels like you to have the same disease your battling it at the same speed as the person.

What made me sad was, when my mum said when visiting a  friend in a chemo ward she came across a patient that  said ‘’he  wants to die ,as he has nothing and no-one  to live for”.

That always stuck with me because we automatically presume all people battling  cancer  have some form of support system, but sadly the reality is not everyone has that luxury, and trust me that support  system can be the   difference between life and death, and extra incentive to fight that disease full force.

Some good can come from this tragedy.

Tom Parker raised awareness of how brain cancer is one of the most under-funded minimally researched of all cancers.

And what also knocked me for six is when the late Tom Parker said “why is that you can make  a  vaccine for Covid why not that urgency to make a cure for brain cancer”.

Which to me is truly food for thought.

The blessing in disguise is that Tom Parker  has 2 children who will support each other, and have a unbreakable bond bounded by this tragedy, and he forever will live on through his children.

I think at times we take for granted good health.

His death made me realize the quote “know your body” and examine it thoroughly, and don’t be afraid to seek help if something doesn’t feel right.

As truly health is  wealth, and we tend to feel due to our youth bad stuff can’t happen to us, but trust me bad stuff can happen to anyone no matter how fit or young you feel.

What the Parker family should take solace in despite his short life he has a lifetime’s worth of achievements crammed in.

Not everyone can have that said about them.

What also made my heart melt, was when an article said of him that he wonders if there’s life after death. I truly hope so in this case it’s true so he can then see how the world truly feels about him, and know his efforts to raise awareness about brain cancer weren’t in vain.

I just want to say thank you Tom Parker for being part of my pre-teens and adulthood.

Listening to ‘’All time low’’ always gives me nostalgia.

Life can be cruel at times the greatest injustices don’t always have any answers. There’s an expression “why do the good die young”.

That definitely applies in this case. I never heard of a guy whose totally charming and humorous and his widow should be proud his children will be able to know their dad was the local lad who made it  big, never lost sight of his roots and spirit even when battling cancer.

May his soul rest in peace what his fans and family should take solace in is the fact he’s not in pain anymore.

The day there’s a cure for this darned disease we as a society will be in a better place.

I truly hope Mrs Parker gets the same support now that she gave Tom, as she truly deserves it and needs it.

Spread the love
